Software RAID Architecture

The HDD-8261 uses software RAID rather than a dedicated hardware RAID processor. Windows combines the physical drives into striped, simple or spanned volumes.

Because there is no onboard hardware RAID cache, host memory and software configuration have a significant effect on streaming performance. Large DMA and file buffers help absorb temporary changes in drive write speed.
