A relay remains in the NC position after power is removed
The PXI-2566 uses nonlatching relays. When relay-coil power is removed, each channel returns to its normally closed state. This is the expected power-off behavior.
The voltage drop across a closed channel is too high
Check the switched current and measure the complete path resistance, including the relay, terminal block, cable and connectors. Review the relay count because contact resistance can increase rapidly near the end of relay life.
The relay switches but the load does not operate
Verify the COM, NO and NC wiring and confirm that the correct relay channel is being controlled. Check the load voltage, current and return path independently from the switch module.
The module becomes hot when several loads are connected
Calculate the combined current load across all active channels and apply the ambient-temperature derating requirements. Reduce the number of high-current channels or improve chassis cooling where necessary.
Relay operation is unreliable with an inductive load
Add suitable transient suppression across the load or switching device. Motors, solenoids and relay coils can produce voltage spikes that exceed the PXI-2566 rating and reduce relay life.
