Accessing all 208 analog inputs requires multiple cable and connector groups. The complete connection cost and panel space should be included in system planning.
208-Channel Measurement Architecture
The large channel count allows a single computer to monitor extensive test fixtures and sensor arrays. All enabled inputs share the 500 kS/s ADC capacity, so the required per-channel rate must be calculated before selection.
Analog Stimulus Generation
Two analog outputs can generate controlled voltage stimulus and arbitrary waveforms. They can be synchronized with input acquisition and external triggers.
Timing, Digital I/O and Counters
NI-STC3 timing coordinates analog, digital and counter operations. Four hardware counters support encoders, pulse measurements, PWM and event counting.
PCIe-6347 Applications
- Large automated test fixtures
- High-density voltage monitoring
- Production line testing
- Burn-in and reliability testing
- Multichannel sensor acquisition
- Stimulus-and-response testing
- Laboratory automation
Large Test Fixtures
The PCIe-6347 can consolidate hundreds of voltage connections into one DAQ platform. Wiring documentation and connector labeling are especially important in high-density systems.
Burn-In and Reliability Testing
Its channel density is useful for monitoring many DUT voltages over extended periods. Software should include channel validation, alarm limits and data-storage management.
PCIe-6347 Installation Workflow
Step 1: Calculate the Required Per-Channel Rate
Divide the aggregate rate across the planned scan list and include settling requirements.
Step 2: Plan All Connector Groups
Identify the exact cables, terminal blocks, rack space and fixture wiring needed.
Step 3: Install NI-DAQmx
Use a release compatible with the host operating system.
Step 4: Install the PCI Express Board
Power down the computer, follow ESD precautions and secure the card.
Step 5: Verify Each Connector
Test channels in groups before connecting the complete fixture.
Step 6: Validate the Final Task
Run the complete scan and confirm timing, settling, crosstalk and buffer performance.
PCIe-6347 Troubleshooting
Some channel numbers do not respond
Check the correct extended connector, cable, terminal block and physical-channel mapping.
Adjacent channels affect one another
Reduce source impedance, slow the scan and improve shielding and settling time.
Per-channel acquisition is too slow
The 500 kS/s capacity is shared across as many as 208 channels.
Analog output is distorted
Check load impedance, cable capacitance, update rate and waveform bandwidth.
Data-overflow errors occur
Increase buffering, optimize the read loop or reduce acquisition throughput.
PCIe-6347 Comparison
