Four-Channel Simultaneous Sampling
All four channels are digitized at the same time, preventing the channel-to-channel timing skew produced by multiplexed acquisition devices. This is essential when comparing signal phase or analyzing correlated events.
16-Bit, 500 MS/s Acquisition
The combination of 16-bit conversion and 500 MS/s sampling provides wide dynamic range and high time resolution. The device is well suited for signals that require more amplitude resolution than many conventional high-speed oscilloscopes provide.
AC- and DC-Coupled Versions
AC-coupled versions cover approximately 70 kHz to 225 MHz and remove DC components from the input. DC-coupled versions acquire signals from DC to 225 MHz.
Coupling is determined by the ordered hardware configuration and cannot be changed through software.
Reconfigurable FPGA Processing
The onboard FPGA can perform real-time filtering, triggering, decimation, channelization, spectral processing and custom data-reduction algorithms before transferring data to the host.
The KU060 provides the most FPGA resources, while the KU035 provides a lower-cost option for less complex designs.
4 GB Onboard DRAM
Two 2 GB DRAM banks provide temporary storage for acquired data and FPGA processing. The memory can support long records, burst capture and algorithms that require large data buffers.
PCIe-5763 Applications
- Radar and electronic-warfare prototyping
- Wireless and communications research
- Semiconductor validation
- High-speed scientific data acquisition
- Spectral monitoring
- Custom oscilloscope development
- Medical and ultrasound research
- Particle and physics experiments
- Wideband vibration and transient analysis
- Real-time FPGA signal processing
Radar and Communications
The FPGA can detect, filter or process wideband signals in real time. Acquired results can be reduced before transfer, lowering host-data requirements.
Semiconductor Test
Four synchronized inputs can capture device responses, transient events and multiple related high-speed signals while preserving channel timing.
PCIe-5763 Installation Workflow
Step 1: Verify the Computer
Confirm the computer provides a PCI Express Gen 3 x8 or x16 slot, adequate mechanical clearance and sufficient airflow.
Step 2: Install Required Software
Install the FlexRIO driver, LabVIEW and LabVIEW FPGA components required by the application.
Step 3: Install the Digitizer
Power down the computer and secure the double-width PCIe-5763 in the selected slot.
Step 4: Connect 50 Ω Signals
Use appropriate SMA cables, attenuators and signal conditioning. Do not exceed the input limits.
Step 5: Load the FPGA Personality
Use an NI-provided acquisition personality or compile the required custom LabVIEW FPGA design.
Step 6: Validate Acquisition
Apply a known signal and verify amplitude, frequency, coupling, sample rate and trigger operation.
PCIe-5763 Troubleshooting
The device is not detected
Check PCI Express lane compatibility, auxiliary mechanical clearance, device seating and FlexRIO driver installation.
The input appears clipped
Reduce the source amplitude or install an external attenuator. Confirm 50 Ω source and load assumptions.
A DC signal cannot be measured
Confirm that the installed part number is a DC-coupled version. AC-coupled hardware blocks DC content.
Data transfer cannot keep up
Use FPGA decimation, triggering or data reduction and verify host PCI Express and storage performance.
The FPGA compilation exceeds resources
Optimize the design or select a PCIe-5763 with a larger KU040 or KU060 FPGA.
PCIe-5763 Comparison
| Model | Channels | Resolution | Sample Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| PCIe-5763 | 4 | 16 bits | 500 MS/s |
| PCIe-5764 | 4 | 16 bits | 1 GS/s class |
| PCIe-5774 | 2 | 12 bits | 6.4 GS/s |
| PCIe-5775 | 2 | 12 bits | 6.4 GS/s |
Choose the PCIe-5763 for higher 16-bit amplitude resolution and four channels. Choose the PCIe-5775 for substantially higher bandwidth and sampling speed.
