32-Channel Analog Input Architecture

The PXIe-6323 can be configured for 32 referenced or nonreferenced single-ended measurements or 16 differential measurements. Single-ended operation provides the highest channel density, while differential connections offer improved rejection of common-mode interference.

The analog inputs share a multiplexed 16-bit ADC. The 250 kS/s specification is the total scan rate rather than a simultaneous per-channel rate. When multiple channels are enabled, the module scans them sequentially according to the configured channel list.

Software-Selectable Input Ranges

Multiple bipolar input ranges allow the module to measure signals from approximately ±100 mV through ±10 V. Selecting the smallest range that covers the entire signal uses more of the ADC span and improves effective voltage resolution.

The signal source, expected transients and common-mode voltage must remain within the applicable input limits. External attenuation or signal conditioning is required for voltages beyond the module rating.

Four Analog Outputs

The four 16-bit analog outputs can generate DC levels, ramps, periodic waveforms and programmable test stimulus. Hardware-timed operation provides more consistent update intervals than software-timed output commands.

The analog outputs can be coordinated with input acquisition to create stimulus-and-response test sequences. External loads must remain within the voltage and current-drive capabilities of the output circuitry.

48 Digital I/O Lines

The PXIe-6323 provides 48 digital I/O lines for fixture control, device-state monitoring, relay control and communication with digital logic. Up to 32 lines on Port 0 support correlated, hardware-timed digital operations.

Additional PFI lines can carry triggers, clocks, counter signals and static digital I/O. Confirm the required voltage levels and current loading before connecting external logic.

Four 32-Bit Counter/Timers

Four counter/timers support event counting, frequency measurement, period measurement, pulse-width measurement, PWM generation and quadrature encoder acquisition.

Counter tasks can use internal timing signals or external PFI connections. Hardware triggering allows counter measurements to begin in synchronization with analog or digital acquisition.

NI-STC3 Timing and Synchronization

NI-STC3 technology provides independent timing engines and advanced trigger routing. Analog input, analog output, digital input, digital output and counter operations can run as separate hardware-timed tasks.

PXI backplane triggers can synchronize the PXIe-6323 with digitizers, waveform generators, switching modules and other DAQ devices installed in the same chassis.

Typical PXIe-6323 Applications

  • Automated functional testing
  • Production end-of-line testing
  • Multichannel voltage monitoring
  • Sensor and transducer acquisition
  • Actuator and relay control
  • Motor and encoder testing
  • Electronic device validation
  • Laboratory automation
  • Test-fixture control
  • Mixed-signal stimulus-and-response testing

NI-DAQmx Software Support

The PXIe-6323 is controlled through NI-DAQmx. The driver provides configuration, acquisition, generation, timing, triggering, scaling, buffering and device-diagnostic functions.

Applications can be created in LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, C, C++, C#, .NET and supported Python environments. NI Measurement & Automation Explorer can be used to detect the module, inspect its pinout and run basic test panels.

PXIe-6323 Troubleshooting

The module is not detected in NI MAX

Confirm that the PXIe-6323 is fully inserted in a compatible PXI Express or hybrid slot. Check chassis power, controller communication and NI-DAQmx installation, then refresh the device list.

The analog input rate is lower than expected

The 250 kS/s rating is aggregate across the complete scan list. Reduce the number of channels or lower the requested per-channel rate so the total conversion rate remains within specification.

Analog measurements are noisy

Check grounding, shielding, cable routing and terminal configuration. Differential measurements can improve common-mode noise rejection. Avoid routing low-level input wiring beside switching-power or motor cables.

Channels show ghosting or settling errors

High source impedance and large voltage differences between consecutive channels can reduce settling accuracy. Buffer high-impedance signals, reduce the scan rate or reorder the channel list.

Digital outputs do not change state

Verify the physical-channel name, port direction and task timing. Check whether another NI-DAQmx task has reserved the same digital port or timing resource.
