USB-6215 Isolated USB Multifunction DAQ Device
Земля NI USB-6215 is an isolated USB multifunction I/O device for portable measurement, industrial testing and laboratory automation. It provides 16 single-ended or eight differential analog inputs with 16-bit resolution and a maximum aggregate sampling rate of 250 kS/s.
Two 16-bit analog outputs, four digital inputs, four digital outputs and two 32-bit counters allow one device to perform measurement, stimulus, logic monitoring and timing operations. Isolation between the USB host and measurement circuitry helps reduce ground-loop problems and protects the computer interface from common-mode disturbances.

USB-Bus Isolation
The isolated architecture separates the measurement-side ground from the computer’s USB ground. This can help interrupt unwanted ground-loop current and reduce noise caused by differences between the computer and test-system ground references.
Isolation has defined voltage and safety limits. It does not authorize direct connection to mains circuits or signals outside the specified measurement category.
Integrated Analog Output
Two analog outputs can generate programmable ±10 V stimulus signals. They can be synchronized with analog input tasks for automated response testing and laboratory control.
USB-6215 Applications
- Industrial sensor measurement
- Ground-loop-sensitive data acquisition
- Portable field measurements
- Electronic validation
- Laboratory automation
- Process monitoring
- Encoder and frequency measurement
Industrial Measurement
The isolation and screw-terminal design make the USB-6215 suitable for industrial equipment monitoring where the computer and sensors may use different ground references.
USB-6215 Installation Workflow
Step 1: Install NI-DAQmx
Install a compatible NI-DAQmx version and restart the computer when required.
Step 2: Plan the Grounding
Review the isolated measurement-side ground and ensure that every signal has an appropriate reference and bias-current return path.
Step 3: Wire the Inputs and Outputs
Use the documented pinout and select differential or single-ended connections according to the signal source.
Step 4: Connect USB
Connect the device through a suitable USB port and verify detection in NI MAX.
Step 5: Test the Channels
Use test panels to verify analog input, analog output, digital I/O and counter operation.
USB-6215 Troubleshooting
The Input Signal Floats or Saturates
Provide an appropriate bias-current return path and verify the selected terminal configuration.
Isolation Does Not Remove All Noise
Review cable shielding, sensor grounding, electromagnetic interference and common-mode voltage. Isolation cannot correct every wiring problem.
The Analog Output Cannot Drive the Load
Use an external buffer or amplifier when the connected circuit requires more than the available output current.
The Device Disconnects
Check the USB cable, computer power management and hub configuration. Connect directly to the host when possible.
USB-6215 Comparison
| Модель | AI Rate | Analog Outputs | Цифровой ввод-вывод | Изоляция |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| USB-6211 | 250 kS/s | 2 | 8 static lines | No |
| USB-6215 | 250 kS/s | 2 | 8 static lines | Да |
| USB-6216 | 400 kS/s | 2 | Up to 32 lines | Да |
Select the USB-6215 for isolated general-purpose measurement with moderate channel count. Select the USB-6216 for faster analog acquisition and substantially more digital I/O.
