PXIe-6357 208-Channel Multifunction I/O Module
Земля NI PXIe-6357 is a high-density X Series multifunction data acquisition module designed for PXI Express automated test and measurement systems. It provides up to 208 single-ended or 104 differential analog input channels in a compact modular format.
The module combines 16-bit analog acquisition with two analog outputs, 24 digital I/O lines and four 32-bit counter/timers. It is well suited to large systems that need to monitor many voltage signals without installing numerous lower-density DAQ devices.
The PXIe-6357 supports analog input sampling up to 1.25 MS/s on one channel and up to 1.0 MS/s aggregate during multichannel scanning. Its inputs are multiplexed rather than simultaneously sampled.

PXIe-6357 Part Number and Connectivity
| Item | Part Number | Описание |
|---|---|---|
| PXIe-6357 | 790595-01 | 208 AI, 2 AO and 24 DIO high-density multifunction module |
| Shielded I/O Cable | Configuration dependent | Connects the high-density module interfaces to terminal accessories |
| Terminal Block | Configuration dependent | Provides screw-terminal or mass-termination field wiring |
| Custom Fixture Interface | Application dependent | Breaks high-density connections out to the DUT or harness |
The PXIe-6357 uses several high-density connector groups to expose its large number of signals. A complete system normally requires multiple cables or a purpose-built mass-termination fixture. Verify every connector assignment before ordering accessories.
208-Channel Analog Input Architecture
The PXIe-6357 provides one of the highest analog input channel counts in the X Series multifunction family. Channels can be organized as as many as 208 single-ended connections or 104 differential pairs.
Single-ended wiring maximizes density and is useful for grounded signals with a shared reference. Differential wiring uses two conductors per measurement and can improve noise rejection in electrically challenging systems.
Multiplexed High-Density Sampling
The module scans the configured input channels through a shared ADC. It does not provide 1.25 MS/s independently on every input. During multichannel acquisition, the total conversion rate is shared across the complete scan list.
For example, a large scan containing hundreds of inputs will have a substantially lower effective sample rate per channel. This architecture is appropriate for temperature, supply, control and status signals that require density more than simultaneous high-speed sampling.
Source-Impedance and Settling Considerations
High source impedance can prevent the ADC input network from settling fully after the multiplexer changes channels. Large voltage steps between adjacent entries in the scan list can make this effect more visible.
Use low-impedance sources, external buffers, slower scan rates or an optimized channel order when maximum accuracy is required. Unused and disconnected inputs should not be interpreted as valid voltage measurements.
Analog Output, Digital I/O and Counters
Two analog outputs generate programmable voltage stimulus or control signals. The 24 digital I/O lines can control fixtures and read digital states, while four counter/timers handle encoder, PWM, frequency and event-count functions.
These additional resources allow the PXIe-6357 to do more than data logging. A single module can coordinate external relays, trigger a DUT, acquire analog responses and measure timing events.

PXIe-6357 Troubleshooting
The calculated per-channel rate is too low
The 1.0 MS/s multichannel specification is aggregate. Divide the aggregate scan rate among the enabled channels or reduce the number of channels in each task.
Some connector channels cannot be found
Check the connector number, channel name and pinout in NI MAX. The large channel count is distributed across multiple front-panel connector groups.
Adjacent channels influence one another
Review source impedance, scan order and settling time. Buffer high-impedance sources and avoid placing a low-level signal immediately after a channel with a large voltage difference when possible.
The application loses samples
Increase buffer size, read data in larger blocks and keep logging or user-interface operations outside the critical acquisition loop. Confirm that the controller and storage system can sustain the total data rate.
