NI-9472 8-Channel 24 V Sourcing Digital Output Module
Земля NI-9472 is an eight-channel C Series sourcing digital output module designed to control industrial relays, lamps, valves, solenoids and other DC loads. It operates from an external supply between 6 VDC and 30 VDC and can source as much as 0.75 A continuously from each channel.
Each solid-state output switches the external supply voltage to the connected load. A maximum full-load output delay of 100 µs supports general-purpose automation, machine control and hardware-in-the-loop applications.

Sourcing Output Operation
When a channel turns on, the NI-9472 connects the external Vsup voltage to the corresponding DO terminal. The connected load returns current to COM.
The module does not generate the load supply internally. A correctly rated external DC power supply must be connected to Vsup and COM before the outputs can energize field devices.
0.75 A Output Capability
Each output can continuously source up to 0.75 A within the specified operating conditions. The load’s steady-state current is only part of the design calculation; lamps, coils and capacitive devices may draw substantially higher inrush current.
Use external suppression for inductive loads when required. Flyback diodes, transient-voltage suppressors or snubbers can reduce voltage stress when a coil is switched off.
Short-Circuit Protection
The module includes protective trip behavior for sufficiently high fault current, but intermediate overcurrent levels can still damage the module. Protection should not be treated as a substitute for proper load sizing and external fusing.

Промышленное управление нагрузкой
The NI-9472 is suitable for 12 V and 24 V industrial loads that draw no more than the specified channel current. It can replace separate low-current output cards and external logic drivers in many test fixtures.
Hardware-in-the-Loop Testing
Outputs can simulate controller commands or activate external relays used to insert electrical loads and faults. Ensure that the timing and current ratings match the HIL system requirements.
NI-9472 Installation Workflow
Step 1: Calculate Load Current
Check the continuous and inrush current of every load before connecting it to the module.
Step 2: Install the Module
Insert the NI-9472 into a compatible CompactDAQ or CompactRIO chassis with power removed where required.
Step 3: Connect the External Supply
Connect the positive DC supply to Vsup and its return to COM. Confirm correct polarity before energizing the circuit.
Step 4: Connect the Loads
Connect each load between its DO terminal and COM. Install appropriate transient suppression for inductive devices.
Step 5: Test at Low Risk
Command one channel at a time and confirm output voltage, channel indication and load current before enabling the entire sequence.
NI-9472 Troubleshooting
The output LED turns on but the load remains off
Check the external supply, Vsup-to-COM voltage, load return path and field wiring. The module cannot power a load without an external supply.
The output voltage is lower than expected
Measure the load current and account for voltage drop across the output path and wiring. Inspect the power supply for current limiting.
The module resets when a solenoid switches
Add suitable flyback or transient suppression and verify chassis grounding. Inductive voltage spikes can disrupt nearby electronics.
An output is damaged after a short circuit
The protective trip operates only under specified fault conditions. Use appropriately sized external fuses or current-limited supplies.
