NI-9475 8-Channel 60 V Sourcing Digital Output Module
Земля NI-9475 is an eight-channel C Series sourcing digital output module designed to control higher-voltage industrial loads. Each channel can source as much as 1 A continuously at external supply voltages up to 60 VDC.
With a maximum full-load output delay of 1 µs, the NI-9475 provides significantly faster switching than many general-purpose industrial output modules. Typical loads include solenoids, relays, lamps, actuators and compatible DC motors.

60 VDC Output Capability
The NI-9475 supports load supplies up to 60 VDC, making it suitable for equipment that operates above conventional 24 V industrial logic levels. It is intended for Measurement Category I signal circuits and must not be connected directly to building mains.
1 A Sourcing Outputs
Each channel can source up to 1 A continuously under the specified conditions. The load must be connected between the selected DO terminal and COM, while the external power supply connects to Vsup and COM.
Check total system power, connector capacity, wiring gauge and chassis thermal conditions when several channels carry substantial current simultaneously.
High-Speed 1 µs Switching
The 1 µs output response supports faster control and pulse generation than the NI-9472. Actual waveform quality depends on the CompactDAQ or CompactRIO chassis, software mode, load impedance and external wiring.
Protection and Load Design
The NI-9475 includes short-circuit trip behavior at high fault currents, but currents between the continuous rating and trip region can damage the module. External fusing and current limiting should be included where a source can deliver high fault energy.

Automotive and HIL Testing
The higher voltage and fast output response are useful for simulating controller outputs or driving test-fixture loads. External protection must be selected according to the available supply current and load energy.
Solenoid and Relay Control
The module can energize compatible coils directly when their voltage, steady-state current and inrush remain within specification. Install suppression close to the inductive load for effective transient control.
NI-9475 Installation Workflow
Step 1: Verify Load Ratings
Measure or obtain the load’s steady-state, inrush and turn-off characteristics before selecting the power supply and protection.
Step 2: Install the Module
Insert the NI-9475 into a compatible chassis while the external Vsup source is turned off.
Step 3: Connect the D-Sub Cable
Use an approved cable or correctly wired fixture and verify every D-Sub pin before applying power.
Step 4: Connect Vsup and COM
Observe polarity and keep the supply at or below 60 VDC.
Step 5: Add Load Protection
Install flyback diodes, snubbers or transient suppressors appropriate for each inductive load.
Step 6: Test Individual Outputs
Enable one channel at a time and monitor current, voltage drop and load operation before enabling the full sequence.
NI-9475 Troubleshooting
The output is enabled but no voltage appears
Check the external supply, Vsup connection, COM return and D-Sub pinout. The software state alone does not supply load power.
The module becomes hot
Measure current on every active channel and check chassis cooling. High current through several outputs increases module dissipation.
A motor causes unstable operation
Check startup current, commutation noise and transient suppression. The NI-9475 is not a complete motor drive and may require a dedicated driver.
An output fails after a wiring short
Review external fusing and current limiting. The internal trip characteristic does not protect against every intermediate overcurrent condition.
The output timing is slower than expected
Check the selected chassis, programming mode and software timing. Hardware response does not eliminate delays introduced by nondeterministic application code.
