PCI-6224 Part Number and Accessories
| Item | Part Number | Описание |
|---|---|---|
| PCI-6224 | 779067-01 | 32-channel, 16-bit PCI multifunction DAQ device |
| 68-Pin Shielded DAQ Cable | Length dependent | Connects an I/O connector to a compatible terminal accessory |
| SCB-68A | Configuration dependent | Shielded screw-terminal block for analog and digital wiring |
| CB-68LP | Configuration dependent | Low-cost connector block for general signal access |
| RTSI Cable | Configuration dependent | Synchronizes compatible PCI measurement boards |
Because the PCI-6224 has two 68-pin connectors, the application may require two cables and two terminal accessories to access every analog and digital channel.
32-Channel Analog Acquisition
The analog subsystem can be configured for 32 single-ended inputs or 16 differential inputs. Mixed terminal configurations may also be possible when the physical channel-pairing rules are followed.
The 250 kS/s rate is shared across the active channel list. For example, scanning multiple channels reduces the effective sample rate available to each channel.
48 Digital I/O Lines
The digital subsystem provides substantially greater channel density than 24-line M Series boards. It can monitor fixture status, control relays, communicate with parallel digital hardware and perform correlated waveform operations.
Counter and Encoder Functions
Two 32-bit counters support edge counting, frequency and period measurement, pulse-width measurement, quadrature encoders and pulse generation.
No Analog Output Channels
The PCI-6224 is optimized for analog acquisition and digital I/O. Applications requiring analog stimulus should select a model such as the PCI-6229 or add a separate analog output device.
PCI-6224 Applications
- Multichannel voltage acquisition
- Automated production testing
- Laboratory data logging
- Test-fixture digital control
- Electronic device validation
- Sensor monitoring
- Digital waveform acquisition
- Encoder and frequency measurements
- Machine-state monitoring
- Research and educational laboratories
- Legacy PCI test-system expansion
- Mixed analog and digital measurements
High-Channel-Count Data Logging
The board can monitor as many as 32 voltage signals through one PCI slot. External conditioning can adapt thermocouples, current loops and other sensors to its voltage-input ranges.
Automated Test Fixtures
Analog inputs measure DUT signals while the 48 digital lines control relays, read interlocks and select fixture paths. Counter functions can measure encoders and pulse signals.
PCI-6224 Installation Workflow
Step 1: Confirm PCI Compatibility
Verify that the computer includes a conventional PCI slot and supports an NI-DAQmx version compatible with the board.
Step 2: Install the PCI-6224
Shut down and unplug the computer, insert the board into the PCI slot and secure it mechanically.
Step 3: Select the Cable Set
Determine whether one or both 68-pin connectors are required. Use shielded cables for sensitive analog measurements.
Step 4: Connect the Terminal Blocks
Wire each signal according to the official pinout and label the terminal blocks according to connector and channel number.
Step 5: Configure NI MAX
Run a self-test and configure representative analog, digital and counter channels.
Step 6: Select the Input Configuration
Choose referenced single-ended, nonreferenced single-ended or differential wiring according to the signal source.
Step 7: Configure the Channel Scan
Set the active channel list and aggregate rate while allowing adequate multiplexer settling time.
PCI-6224 Troubleshooting
Some channels show the same voltage
Check differential channel pairing and terminal configuration. Incorrect pairing can connect the wrong negative input to a differential channel.
The per-channel sample rate is lower than expected
The 250 kS/s rating is an aggregate rate shared by all scanned analog channels.
Channel readings change after scanning a high-voltage source
Reduce source impedance or slow the convert rate to provide additional settling time between multiplexed channels.
Some digital lines are unavailable
Confirm that both VHDCI connectors and the correct cable accessories are installed. Not all signals are present on one connector.
The application cannot generate analog voltage
The PCI-6224 does not include analog outputs. Add a separate AO device or select a multifunction model with output channels.
